Sable is one of the innocent and cute animals whose fur keeps people warm in freezing cold and its super soft silky texture makes it one of the most expensive furs in the world.
It all started when Zhenya (a Russian woman) saw the photos of a little insecure sable on the Internet and it turned out it was possible to buy it from the fur farm where these animals live and eventually get killed in order to fulfill some people’s needs for a “luxury” life or their desire to feel an innocent animals fur wrapped around their body. So Zhenya decided to rescue this one wild creature and brought her home.
Although they are enjoying living together now it hasn’t been a piece of cake in the beginning because sables are not the easiest animals to pet: it requires efforts and considerable time for the sable to adapt and start living comfortably with humans. And so for the human, Zhenya also had a hard time with Umora (the sable) being overly emotional and sometimes even aggressive.
Of course, petting a sable is not always a good idea because after all they are wild animals living near riverbanks and in the thickest forests and are used to the wilderness of Nature. But if the choice is between petting them or letting them be killed to become someone’s coat one day, then petting is not only a good idea but the best way to save the animal.
