British photographer, Miles Herbert, is the owner of Captivelight photography studio located in the seaside town of Bournemouth. Herbert is an expert in the field of animal photography and teaches others how to capture stunning shots of birds of prey, reptiles, frogs, and other animals. The studio is equipped with all the necessary tools and equipment to capture beautiful images of these creatures.
“We shot these cute mice in the studio,” said Herbert. “That way, we don’t have to rely on the weather. However, if the client prefers, we can also shoot outdoors. Our specialty is frogs.”
At Captivelight, Herbert focuses on photographing captive-bred animals as they are not as shy, and it also helps to preserve wild populations. “Virtually all the animals we shoot are captive-bred,” said Herbert. “We then release them back into their natural habitats. In class, we prefer to photograph captive-bred animals so as not to disturb their wild counterparts.”
One of the most popular subjects in the studio is baby mice. These tiny mammals are considered one of the smallest, with a length of barely 13 centimeters and a weight of 7-10 grams. Newborn mice weigh almost a gram. During the photo session, the mice feast on the stamens and nectar of flowers, making the experience enjoyable for both the photographer and the subject. The resulting shots are incredibly beautiful and touching, capturing the delicate beauty of these small creatures.
