German Company Creates Sleep Pods For The Homeless To Keep Them Warm In The Winter

If each and every one of us made one kind deed the world would become such a nice place to live. One small act of kindness sparks another and we do hope that this one will encourage lots of people to be kinder. Homeless people like anyone else need our help and support. It is difficult for us to imagine how hard it is for someone that has to sleep outside in the freezing cold of Winter or the burning heat of Summer.

The Ulm-based company in Germany called Ulmer Nest has started a program of providing sleep pods for the homeless to keep them warm. These pods are made from steel and wood and can accommodate up to 2 people. Being designed to be waterproof these cabins protect people from cold and are a safe place to be during the windy and rainy days. Due to the solar panels pods also provide heating to keep the person warm.

According to the Global Homelessness Statistics, there are more than 860 000 homeless people in Germany and they do need help. The pods have been a savor for many in need of emergency accommodation. Social workers clean up the pods every time each person leaves so that they can be prepared for the next visitor. This is one of the best solutions for fighting homelessness, well at least being of some help to these people.

One of the heartwarming things is also the fact that people from the neighborhood where these pods are installed sometimes give the guests hot tea in the morning and we think that’s cute and very kind. As we mentioned earlier one small act of kindness sparks another. Always!

Check out the photos and tell us what was your last act of kindness?
